What if I have never detoxed / fasted before?
Don’t worry a detox is a very safe and natural process and our trained staff will be there to support and guide you through your entire program. As always, if you suffer from any medical condition it is advisable for you to consult your G.P. before commencing any detox program.
Is there anything I should do to prepare for the program?
Yes, 1 – 2 weeks prior to joining us try to drink plenty of filtered water and limit:
- Coffee
- Processed foods with sugar, salt and white flour
- Alcohol
- Dairy products
- Red meat
- Fried foods
- Artificial Sweeteners / additives / preservatives.
It’s a good idea to begin eating a ‘whole foods’ diet, this includes freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices, fresh fruit, vegetables (raw or lightly steamed), salads, whole grains like brown rice, millet or quinuoa and fresh unsalted seeds and nuts.
Will I lose weight during the cleanse and how much do most people lose?
Most definitely! Cleansing removes built up waste from your intestines, gallstones from your liver and toxins that are stored in your fat cells. The average weight loss is between 3 – 8 kg on a 7 day Fasting & Detox Program.
Will I feel any side effects during the detox?
Feelings of weakness, fatigue, headaches and flu-like symptoms can occur during the fast in the first 2-3 days but the good news is that by taking our daily supplements and following our schedule of activities it will speed up the elimination of toxins thus reducing your tendency towards feeling any of the above. Furthermore, by the end of the program, you will feel a new sense of energy and vitality!
Will I feel hungry during the detox?
In the first couple days of your program it is normal to experience feelings of hunger. However, the ingredients in our detox supplements will provide your body with ‘bulk’ to make you feel full and so the hunger pangs will be limited. Most of our guests in fact, feel no hunger whatsoever (please read for yourself some of their comments on our Testimonial page) Often it is our emotional attachment to foods that causes us hunger!
Can I exercise during the detox program?
During a detox it is important that the body is not put under too much stress or strain as it needs to utilise its energy for the internal work at hand (i.e. the dismantling and elimination of toxins). However, gentle exercise such as yoga, swimming and walking is very condusive as it helps speed up the elimination process by gently stimulating blood flow, lymphatic drainage and oxygenation of the cells.
Can I drink soda, take medication / smoke during the program?
The body cannot effectively detoxify if you are continuing to take toxins in from caffeine, soda, cigarettes etc. Whilst some of our guests do still smoke and take necessary medications during their program they will receive only some of the benefits. By abstaining from these the best results are achieved. In fact, detoxing can help people to break these bad habits once and for all!
Can I eat normally after the detox?
Upon breaking fast it is very important that the re-introduction of food is gradual. The body needs a period of time to stimulate the production of digestive enzymes that have been temporarily stopped during the fast. Although you might want to try every food on the planet, this can be dangerous as your system needs time to get back to speed! The longer the fast the more time is needed for breaking the fast. In the first couple of days we recommend that you eat only raw food i.e. fruit and salads and then you can re-introduce soups and steamed vegetables. After 1 week, a greater variety of foods can be re-introduced i.e. proteins such as tofu, fish, eggs and un-refined carbohydrates.
When should a detox not be undertaken?
We do not recommend that you join a detox program if you have one or more of the following conditions:
- You are pregnant
- You are an insulin dependent diabetic.
- You are severely anemic
- You have recently undergone colon surgery.
Always consult your G.P. if you have any medical condition which may affect your ability to participate in the program.
Do I need medical supervision during my Detox?
Fasting is a very safe and natural process. It is a means used in nature by all creatures from the beginning of time, either by instinct or intelligence, to assist the body to relieve itself from discomfort, pain and dis-ease. Throughout your program, your body will be fully supported by super food supplements & juices and so you will not require medical supervision.
PLEASE NOTE, prior to your participation in the Detox Program we will require you to complete our Medical Questionnaire and then upon your arrival, we will conduct a health & lifestyle evaluation. If there is any illness/ailment/allergy that raises a concern we will recommend that you undergo a medical check at Samui International Hospital / Bangkok International Hospital. They are accredited by Thailand’s Ministry of Health.
If you already know of any pre-existing illness / ailment which may affect your ability to join our program you should consult your medical practitioner prior to making a booking.
Can I do a detox without Colonic Irrigation?
Research shows that approximately 80% of disease stems from the Colon and Collateral Cancer is the number 2 cancer killer. Of all the excretory organs, the colon is the most abused and overloaded these days and so we feel that this is an essential element of our detox program. Until you ‘dredge this drain,’ regardless of how well you cleanse your blood and tissues by other means, the sludge in your bowels will continuously seep toxins right back into your bloodstream!
Most people think of colonic irrigation as a nightmarish experience – it is far from this! After a comprehensive workshop you will, in no time, be self-administering your colonic in the privacy of your own bathroom and the results will prove truly amazing! Your skin and eyes will look clearer, you will have an abundance of energy, any nagging aches and pains will disappear, your digestion will improve and you could lose up to 2 – 6 kg in weight! Plus conditions such as IBS, gas bloating and constipation can become a thing of the past.
Can non-participating guests stay at your Resort?
We only cater for participating guests and hope that our 3 programs cater for everyone; whether they wish to fast / lose weight / rejuvenate!
Do you cater for Children?
Due to our location in the Mountain we are regrettably unable to cater for children.
What will I need to bring for my stay?
- Natural Body Products
- Beach Towel
- Sun glasses
- Sun Protection Cream (if possible buy a brand which is natural and with a high factor)
- Sun Hat
- Bathing Suit
- Notebook/Journal
- Trainers/walking shoes
- Lightweight clothing
- Flip flops/open toe sandals
- Loose comfortable clothing for yoga/morning exercise/massage
- Walkman/iPod
During a Fasting & Detox Program we recommend that you refrain from applying make-up, and un-natural body products including deodorant as they can contain pollutants which will inhibit the cleansing process. We provide guests with natural soap & mosquito repellant.
How do I get to your resort?
There are 3 ways you can get to Koh Samui, by:
Air
Depending upon your destination of origin, you will first need to book an international flight to:
Bangkok / Singapore / Hong Kong
Then you will need to catch a connecting flight to Koh Samui. Bangkok Air and Thai Airways are the only two airlines that offer flights into Koh Samui and you can either book this flight via your local travel agent or by visiting their independent websites:
www.bangkokair.com
www.thaiairways.com
Once you arrive at Koh Samui airport; our driver will be waiting for you in the meeting area, ready to transfer you to our resort.
TRAIN & FERRY
There are many trains running throughout the day from Bangkok to Surat Thani and return. The Surat Thani train station is about an hour from the ferry pier where you catch the boat to Koh Samui. You will need transportation from the railway station to the pier. The most popular trains are the sleeper trains where you travel at night and arrive in Surat Thani in the morning.
Any travel agent in Bangkok can book a ticket for you that will include train, bus and boat, to Koh Samui. Prices will vary depending on the class of train travel i.e. 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
All trains run from Hualamphong Station.
BUS & FERRY
The Bangkok to Samui buses leave from the Southern Terminal in Bangkok. There are V.I.P, First and Second-class buses. These are all air-conditioned. For an easier journey, buy a bus / boat combination ticket. Note, the buses are often delayed and cannot to be relied upon, especially if you are making a connection for a flight on your return. The journey takes around 12 hours.
How far away is your resort from the Airport?
Our resort is approximately a 30 minute drive away from the airport.
Do you have internet access at your resort?
YES, we have Free WiFi at our Retreat although we recommend that you try to a make a plan to take a physical, emotional and mental rest during your program. During a detox, the best results will be achieved when you completely ‘unplug’ from your everyday stresses which will enable your body to switch into the parasympathetic nervous system (this is the branch that governs the immune system and controls self-cleansing responses). It is also known as the ‘rest and relaxation circuit.’
How far away is your resort from the Beach?
Our resort is located approximately a 5 minute drive / 10-15 minute walk away from the beach and we guide guests on a stunning walk there every morning.
